Background of Upazila Administration
Jessore is the first subdivision of India. In 18 AD, the sub-division was first shifted to Trimohoni in Keshabpur upazila and later to Murli in 1896. The present Sadar Upazila was established on 1 February 1984. Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah is situated to the north of Jessore Sadar, Chaugachha and Jhikargachha of Jessore to the west, Monirampur and Abhaynagar to the south and Bagharpara upazila of Jessore to the east. Jessore Sadar Upazila Parishad is located on the north side of Jessore-Narail road, 1 km east of the district town.
